Jose Antonio and family in Scotland

One of the trendiest destinations in Europe and with good reason! ‘The best trip of our lives,’ were literally the words with which this wonderful family bid us farewell after we had the opportunity to explore the lands of Scotland in detail.

Day 1. Madrid – Edinburgh – Glasgow.

WELCOME!

We met at the Madrid airport and flew to Edinburgh with our guide. Once there, our private transport was waiting to take us directly to Glasgow. Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland, is a place of vibrant activity and full of personality. One of its strengths is its impressive blend of architectural styles along with a large number of art and photography galleries and creative spaces. Another is that Glasgow truly knows how to make the most of its nightlife. We visited a restaurant from its varied culinary scene and then the more enthusiastic among us enjoyed drinks in a cozy pub, a cocktail bar, a nightclub, and a live music venue until late into the night.

Day 2. Stirling and Callander.

STARTING TO DISCOVER.

Early in the morning, we headed to the famous Stirling Castle, the largest and most significant in Scotland, built on a volcanic peak and surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs. We spent the rest of the day in Callander, which served as our base to explore the Trossachs the next day. That night, we had our first taste of craft beer and the cuisine of Scottish towns.

Day 3. Trossachs and Fort William.

The Trossachs National Park is one of those places in the world that overwhelms with its natural beauty. On the way to the Highlands, we encountered lakes, mountains, and rivers competing with castles, palaces, and villages. The highlight, Loch Lomond, the largest lake in Great Britain, is one of the most important natural landmarks in Scotland. Its shores are filled with villages, islands, and castles hiding a variety of anecdotes. We stayed overnight in Fort William. Although we were dressed for adventure and unsure if we met the dress code, it didn’t stop us from relaxing and enjoying an excellent whisky at a luxurious hotel next to a golf course.

Day 4. Ben Nevis.

Today we split up so the more adventurous could ascend the highest peak in Great Britain: Ben Nevis, also known as the King of the Highlands. A national emblem, Ben Nevis stands imposingly on the horizon at 1,345 meters, offering unparalleled scenery from its multiple hiking routes. We chose the Pony Track route, consisting of winding paths that zigzag to the summit, and the journey took about 3 to 4 hours. Our effort was rewarded with impressive views that extended to County Antrim in Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, those who preferred a more relaxed plan were left at the Nevis Range Mountain Resort, which offers various nature-related activities, such as a gondola ride from the north face of Aonach Mòr, reaching 650 meters and providing privileged views towards Ben Nevis. We brought boots and warm clothes!

Day 5. Skye.

RENEWING ENERGY!

We rested after the mountain day and had a leisurely breakfast, then headed along the Road to the Isles from Glenfinnan to the port town of Mallaig where we took the ferry to the mythical Isle of Skye. From the port of Armadale, we went directly to a guided tour and tasting at one of the world’s most important malt whisky distilleries, ending the day dining at one of the island’s great restaurants.

Day 6. In the Heart of the Highlands.

We crossed the Skye Bridge to enter the Highlands, first passing through Kyle of Lochalsh, then heading to Plockton before delving into the magnificent Glen Torridon, one of the most rugged and remote areas of Scotland, surrounded by mountains and one of the most beautiful roads in the country where it seems the world has stopped right in this part of the northern Highlands. We ended the day toasting with craft stout at the best pub in Ullapool.

Day 7. Inverness and Cairngorms.

Alojamientos con Encanto

We took advantage of the morning to take a short walk around Ullapool and then headed to Inverness, where we sailed on Loch Ness in search of the monster and visited some of the castles on its shores. After lunch, we continued our journey to the Cairngorms National Park, where we spent the night enjoying its unparalleled nature.

Day 8. Edinburgh.

We dedicated our first day in the Scottish capital to visiting its most typical monuments and attractions, including its great castle, its medieval historic center, and walking along the Royal Mile. We reserved the evening for a magnificent dinner and the more enthusiastic among us went out to enjoy the city.

Day 9. Edinburgh.

We had a Spanish friend who has been a specialized guide for many years to help us discover the authentic city of the locals, with all its hidden corners and secrets unknown to the common tourist. We spent the rest of the day on our whims: shopping, the Whisky Museum, pubs… whatever we wanted!

Day 10. Madrid.

We transferred to the airport and flew back with our guide, whom we said goodbye to at Madrid airport.

SAFE RETURN AND SEE YOU NEXT TIME!
